Head/Principal For January 2022. Glenstal Abbey School is an all-boys boarding secondary school of approximately 220pup ils located in Murroe, County Limerick. The mission of Glenstal Abbey School is to offer students a Christian environment in which to grow together, by fostering independent, critical and imaginative thinking that will help guide them through life. The Board of Governors invites applications for the role of Head/Principal, to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the school, directing all academic, boarding and co-curricular dimensions of school life. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an educational experience which is in keeping with the school’s Benedictine ethos; in strict adherence to all relevant legislation and Department of Education regulations and to best practice for the care of students in fee-charging boarding schools. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and committed educationalist with a proven track record of accomplishment, the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students, and to command the respect of other stakeholders in the school. He/she will possess strong academic credentials, a visionary outlook aligned with the school’s ethos, exceptional team building and communication skills, and a creative approach to leading and implementing school policies and initiatives. The Head/Principal will have a personal commitment to the Christian faith and, in co-operation with the non-executive school President, will protect, support and promote the characteristic spirit of the school, which is Catholic and Benedictine. He/she will be willing to live on or adjacent to the Glenstal campus so as to engage fully with all elements of seven-day boarding school life.
