With a strong commercial mandate, Shannon Foynes Port Company has statutory jurisdiction over all marine activities on the Shannon Estuary - Ireland’s largest portal area. This rare opportunity has arisen for a commercially focussed Harbour Master, the Harbour Master will report to the Port Services Manager and will oversee the day to day provision of harbourmaster services within the port. Where concerns arise relating to any of the Statutory Harbour Master functions, the Harbour Master may communicate directly with the CEO and the CEO may require the Harbour Master to report directly to him on these matters. This senior position requires extensive knowledge and experience of compliance and risk management systems in a modern commercial port environment. Your duties will include controlling shipping movements, berthing, pilotage and managing personnel within the Harbour Master function. Relationships with port users and key stake-holders, and emergency response plans are key aspects of your role. Candidates should have a Masters Class 1 or equivalent in the Naval Service; or experience as a Harbour Master/Deputy/Assistant/Pilot or equivalent. Commercial acumen, people-management and budget control skills, ideally gained within a commercial environment are required.
