My client, a leading manufacturer and distributor, has an exciting new opportunity for a Buyer/ Maintenance Engineer to join their business. Responsibilities: Buyer Role: Manage existing and new suppliers of materials, by negotiating and developing agreements with suppliers and the forecasting of price trend & impact on future activities. Ensure continuity of raw materials, effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders any potential supply, demand or scheduling issues that would impact on the company, with recommendations for resolution. Cooperating with all departments to ensure regular flow of materials as required by production, plant projects and customer demands. Manage all Direct Material spend ensuring value is optimised. Review and approve purchasing requests. Management of day to day purchasing activities for all Direct Material to ensure purchases are made at "the least total cost" to The Company. Identifying excess inventory prior to placing additional orders by analysing current inventory holding levels to minimise cost exposure to the company. Maintenance Role: Oversee the day to day running of production equipment within the production environment. Troubleshooting/preventative maintenance and repair of equipment. Provide technical and mechanical support to Machine Setters and Operators to reduce downtime on machines. Engineering support to assigned production lines ensuring products manufactured conform to quality standards and specifications. Working as part of a team to identify and resolve systematic equipment issues. Prioritise issues in conjunction with production supervisors. Installation of process equipment and fixtures. Carry out Preventative Maintenance on Machines and Tools. Key attributes: Negotiating and buying experience. Experience of maintenance/repair of production machinery/equipment.
