We are recruiting high calibre individuals for a senior management role in the Diplomatic Service. They will have a crucial role in the development and implementation of Ireland’s foreign policy and in representing, promoting and protecting the interests, values and economic well-being of Ireland and its citizens abroad.   Serving in missions abroad is an integral part of the work of a First Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Those appointed will be required to serve in missions abroad on a regular basis throughout their careers. During a career in the Diplomatic Service, a First Secretary can expect to work at headquarters in Dublin or Limerick and at a number of Irish. Embassies and Missions abroad.   Successful candidates will have experience of:   - Promoting and communicating Ireland’s interest and values at home and/or abroad; - Leading teams, developing people and managing resources; - Analysis and policy development, ideally with an interest in foreign policy and. operations.   This competition is only open to persons who are citizens of Ireland. .
