Unijobs on behalf of the University of Limerick are recruiting for the position of Head of Enterprise Architecture within the Information Technology Division. Job Description. Reporting to the Office of the Director of ITD, you will play a key role in developing and delivering business and IT strategy. You will be leading the creation of our strategic enterprise architecture approach and plans and take responsibility for developing specific elements of the University's enterprise, business and technology architecture. You will work closely with and influence key stakeholders across the institution as part of high profile and strategically critical projects. Key Objectives. Establish own and manage the content of the Enterprise Architecture Vision and Strategy (including reference models, policies, standards, principles and guidelines) across the academic, research and administrative systems of UL. Provide assurance of IT designs and components with the EA Strategy. Communicate the EA strategy throughout UL and act as an escalation point on matters related to EA. Agree and support the reference architecture for UL. Coordinate the University's technical architecture, IT standards, compliance, & security. Identify and promote new opportunities and solutions. Guide and promote architecture implementation. Support an environment conducive to sustained innovation. Assist UL staff in making decisions that are aligned with the strategic platforms and initiatives of the University. Assist departments to problem-solve and introduce them to new tools. As required, utilise professional networks, to follow or lead the development of standards, tools, and practices of relevance to the University. Provides senior leadership on integration architecture, as well as enterprise-level advice to the organization. Translates overarching business requirements and designs, defines and implements integration patterns to implement consistent solutions that are based on best practices, align with financial budgets. Ensuring that solutions are in line with the enterprise architecture and the priorities set by the Enterprise Architecture approach. Finds a balance between the need for access and the need to meet security and performance requirements. Collaborates with several project or solution teams, providing them with a long-term vision and leadership in order to define integration solutions and standardize integration processes. Key Accountabilities. Developing IT strategy and architecture roadmaps, at the enterprise level, co-ordinating current demand for change alongside strategic delivery. Acting as a technical authority for selected service, platform and design issues. Developing solution and technical architectures, at the programme and project level, to support IT delivery, including defining enterprise and solution architectures that meet project requirements. Working with project sponsors on the development of business and technology roadmaps, developing the high-level view of the "As-Is" and "To-Be" enterprise architecture, Business and IT Roadmaps and supporting Business Case development. Playing a key role in multi-disciplinary groups to shape the business strategy, using your expertise and knowledge to influence key stakeholders and ensure process and system solutions drive the desired outcomes. Taking responsibility for developing the enterprise strategy and architecture blueprint to deliver the Universities strategic aims. Working closely with the division's senior management team to develop the overarching vision of IT architecture for the University, communicating this effectively and gaining buy in from key stakeholders. Setting an exemplary standard in relationship management by providing a strategic interface between stakeholders and technical specialists, advising and influencing project sponsors and senior managers on how best to utilise architecture to achieve desired outcomes. Leading the development of the Enterprise Architecture standards, policies and guidelines to meet legal, regulatory and University needs. Supporting the creation and development of an architecture community, providing leadership across the organisation and embedding enterprise and solution architecture at the University. Project manage key IT projects on behalf of the IT Division as required. This list of duties is not exhaustive and other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to the post holder from time to time. Essential Criteria. 6 years as an enterprise systems architect, managing typical architecture deliverables and activities, including creation of roadmaps, position papers, strategic proposals, standards, and models. A primary degree in a relevant subject or substantial relevant IT management experience in one or more large organisations. Extensive experience with enterprise architecture best practices and goals. Expertise of one or more common architecture frameworks e.g. TOGAF, MODAF, Zachman, etc. Excellent skills in evaluating technologies and assessing their potential value to the business. Extensive experience of the development of integration architectures and associated strategies. Experience of complex technology environments. This is a specific purpose contract.
