Occupational Health Screening Nurse. Unijobs on behalf of our public sector client based in Limerick have a requirement for an Occupational Health Screening Nurse to work within the high paced environment of the HSE. The initial duration of this post is twelve months with the strong possibility of an extension. The successful candidate will work a 37 hour week Monday to Friday and must be available to start immediately. Qualifications Are As Follows: Candidates must be currently registered on the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Irish Nursing and Midwifery Board. Two to three years general experience post-graduation. Some experience in health screening would be an advantage. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES. The main role of the Health Screening Nurse is in the clinical assessment of employees who attend the Unit. It takes the form of performing ECG, Blood Biochemistry Analysis, Urine Analysis and Screening, Audiometry and relevant occupational history. Carrying out workplace based programmes in (a) hearing conservation, (b) Vaccination. Taking medical history and carrying out the Screening aspects of Pre-employment medical examinations. Role and Purpose: To act as a front line person in carrying out the functions of the Occupational Health Unit which are as follows: Develop and implement occupational health policies and standards. Implement health surveillance programmes for high risk groups. Perform health assessments as part of the recruitment process (i.e. pre-employment medical examination. Monitor ill health and absence attributed to sickness. Advise on rehabilitation following long term sickness and medical retirement where appropriate. Provide health promotion and education within the workforce. Educate staff in the promotion and adherence to health and safety legislation guidelines in association with Safety Departments, the Department of Human Resources, Line Managers and other relevant professionals. Implement appropriate immunisation policies. Provide general health checks on request for employees and pre-retirement medical examination. Provide a confidential counselling service for employees with psychological and emotional problems which may impact negatively on their working and personal lives. Reporting Relationships: REPORT TO THE SENIOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH: Chief Medical Officer. Senior Occupational Health Nurse. Occupational Physician/Medical Officer/Specialist Registrar. Local Human Resource and Personnel Managers. Operation Managers and Supervisors at all levels. Employee Health & Safety Representatives.
